In1996DulcejoinedtheMexicanmusicgroupK.I.D.S..TheywereverypopularamongchildreninMexicoandreleasedtwohitsingles,LamejordetussonrisasandPrendeelswitch.In1999,Dulcedecidedtoleavethegroupduetopersonalreasons.AfterherdeparturefromK.I.D.S.,Dulceandherthenboyfriend,DanielHabif,alsoanex-memberofK.I.D.S.,decidedtostarttheirowngroupcalledD&D.Theyrecordedfivesongs,butforunknownreasons,splitup.Inearly2000,DulcereplacedAngieinJeans,afemaleLatinpopgroup.SheleftaftertwoyearstofilmClase406.

DulcebeganactingintelenovelasandwaseventuallycastasoneofthemaincharactersinRebelde.ThesuccessofRebelde,launchedRBD.TodateRBDhasmade9studioalbums,includingalbumsinSpanish,PortugueseandEnglish.Theyhavesoldover20millionalbumsworldwide,andhavetouredacrossMexico,SouthAmerica,Serbia,Romania,theUnitedStates,andSpain.OnAugust15,2008,RBDreleasedamessagetellingfansthattheyhaddecidedtosplitup.Theywentononefinaltour,GiraDelAdiosWorldTourwhichendedin2008.OnNovember25,2008,DulcecollaboratedwithTizianoFerroandAnahíonasongcalledElRegaloMàsGrande.FollowingthebreakupofRBD,DulcesignedwithUniversalMusicandannouncedthatshewillbeginrecordingin2009asasoloartist.

In2009sherecordedtwonewsongsforthenovela,VeranodeAmor,calledVeranoandDéjameSer,asongsheco-wrotealongwithCarlosLara.DulcealsocollaboratedwithAkon,toremixhissongBeautiful.Theyperformedthesongtogetheratthe2009radioconcert,ElEvento40.

DulceMaríareleasedherfirstsolosingleonMay17,2010,Inevitable.ThemusicvideowasreleasedonMay24andwasdirectedbyArgentineandirectorFranciscod'AmorimLima.DulceMaría'ssoloalbum"Extranjera"wasoriginallysettobereleasedSeptember7,butthereleasedatewaschangedduetorecordingofsomenewtracks.ThealbumwasthensettobereleasedNovember9,2010withherstatingonTwitter@DulceMaria"Wehavemoresurprisesforyouguyssobepatient!".Thesurprisewasthatthealbumwasgoingtobedividedintwo:ExtranjeraPrimeraParte,with7tracks,includingthehitInevitable,releasedonNovember9,2010andExtranjeraSegundaPartewith7moretracksplusaDVDwithextras.OnNovember9,2010,DulceMaríapresentedheralbumwithashowcaseattheLunarioandannouncedhersecondsingleYaNo,whichwillbefeaturedonthesecondpartofthealbumsettobereleasedinthesummerof2011.ThesongisacoverofthelatesingerSelenafromthealbumAmorProhibido.ThesongbeganplayingonradiosonNovember16,2010.

OnJanuary14APreviewClipwasreleasedforDulce'sNewSingleYaNoshowingherin3differentoutfits,andinthelastscenearguingwithherloveinterest.DulceMaria'sNewMusicVideoYaNowasreleasedonFebruary10onherpersonalYouTubechannel,DulceMariaLive,earlierthanplannedduetoitbeingleaked.

Followinghersuccessasachildstar,Dulcebegantostarinteen-orientedtelenovelassuchasElJuegodelaVidaandClase406.InClase406,sheworkedalongsideAlfonsoHerrera,Anahí,andChristianChávez,wholaterbecameherbandmatesinRBDIn2004,shewascastasoneofthemaincharactersinRebelde,aMexicanremakeofthehitArgentiniantelenovela,RebeldeWay.DulceplayedRobertaPardo,thestrong-willeddaughterofafamousMexicansinger.Rebeldewasahitworldwideandhadover400episodes,airingfrom2004until2006.In2006,theactressreceivedtheawardTVYNovelas,forBestYoungTelenovelaActressforherworkinRebelde.

FollowingthesuccessofRebelde,in2007,TelevisareleasedRBD:LaFamilia,whichstarredthemembersofRBD.ThesitcomwasbasedonthefictionallivesofthemembersofRBD.Thecharactersofthesitcomwerenotbasedontheband'scharactersinRebelde,butintendedtobesimilartotheactors'realpersonalities.RBD:LaFamiliawasthefirstMexicanseriesshotentirelyinHighDefinition.TheshowranfromMarch14,2007–June13,2007,andonlyhad13episodes.

In2009,shestarredinthetelenovelaVeranodeAmor,alongsideGonzaloGarciaVivancoandAriBorovoy,alsoproducedbyPedroDamián,wheresheinterpretsthethemesongsofthetelenovela,VeranoandDéjameSer;DulcewascastasMiranda.ThetelenovelapremieredonFebruary9,2009,replacingtheseriesJuroQueTeAmo.VeranodeAmorincorporatesmessagesintothenovelapromotingenvironmentalresponsibility,anextensionofTelevisa's"TelevisaVerde"initiativefocusedontheenvironment.

In2010shereceivedtheprize,PeopleEnEspa?olasBestYoungActressforthetelenovelaVeranodeAmor.

InApril2010DulceMariawascastasaLupitainanewindependentfilmproject,directedbyGonzaloJustiniano,"AlguienHaVistoALupita?"(HasAnyoneSeenLupita?)starringalongsideChileanactorCristiandelaFuente.ThefilmaimstobereleasedinMarch2011[datedinfo]andwillbepresentedatfilmfestivalsataninternationallevel.DulceMariawasinfashionlineCklasswithherexcollegeMaitePerroni.InterestisthatthatDulcewasinTVshowClase406withactors:Anahi,Alfonso,Christian.AlmostallofleadingactorsatTVshowREBELDE
