Born and raised in Montreal, Derwin aspired to be an actor despite majoring in business in college. After his third year, he decided to follow his dream and enrolled in York University's theatre program. Along with his film and television career, Derwin is very active in the Toronto theatre scene. Performing in works from Shakespeare to new Canadian plays. Derwin plans to direct and produce in the future.
