英格丽德·施特格 was born Ingrid Anita Stengert in Berlin, April 1st, 1947, as the third child to Kurt and K?the Stengert, who already had son Udo and daughter Jutta. After school she worked as a secretary when she was discovered by photographer Frank Quade.
