将传统的超级机器人动画和大河剧式的剧情展开结合的手法令许多观众为之所吸引。

同时也是人偶剧的监督，演出家。

另外，在《未来机器人达尔塔尼斯》播出的途中被撤去监督一职。后在拍摄日法合制的《尤利西斯》过程中去世。

1980年11月4日逝世。他的英年早逝在日本动画史上是一大憾事。
