化学生理、信息素通信、鱼类信息素调控,鱼类生殖及应激内分泌调控,无颌鱼类进化,基因组注释及功能基因组学,入侵种生物控制。先后主持美国NIH、NSF、SEAGRANT、五大湖渔业委员会、五大湖渔业信托基金、五大湖保护基金的基金资助,总经费超过1100万美元。近年来,在《SCIENCE》、《PNAS》、《JOURNALOFNEUROSCIENCE》、《BMCEvolutionaryBiology》等国际顶级学术期刊发表多篇具有很强学术影响力的论文。
