2020年8月16日，新浪娱乐报道称：布莱恩考克斯日前上《詹姆斯柯登深夜秀》接受线上采访，透露自己早前被医生验出感染新冠肺炎，但在此之前他自己并不知情，直言并没有身体并没有任何不适，发现确诊也是一个巧合，“我有糖尿病，每几个月都需要去验一次血，我到医院去他们帮我验血，而且还做了新冠的检验，然后我的医生就打来跟我说‘恭喜，你感染新冠肺炎，但现在你身上有抗体了’。”
听到检测结果，布莱恩考克斯才想起自己2019年12月与太太从伦敦回来4天后，突然不断地打喷嚏，除此之外就没有任何病状，“那医生告诉我，之前也有几个确诊新冠肺炎的病人也没有其他病状，仅仅只是打喷嚏，但这样仍会感染其他人。”因此他也强调出门一定要戴口罩，要大家好好保护自己及他人。
