早年经历
林碧笙原名LimPhaikSeng，出生于马来西亚槟城，是棕榈油百万富翁LimChengTaik的女儿。她在槟城的修道院学校上学时，被起绰号“Pixie”。她在16岁时违背家庭意愿，搬到英国，就读于伦敦戏剧艺术学校。由于她的朋友把她的名字“Phaik”错读成“fake”（假），她改名为林碧笙（Pik-SenLim）。
人物经历
1964年，她在医务剧《紧急-10号病房》中扮演一名护士。在那里，她遇到了之后的丈夫编剧唐·霍敦。
二人生的女儿SaraHoughton也是一名演员，她们在ThreeThousandTroubledThreads中扮演了母女。1971年，她也出现在一集唐·霍敦写的《神秘博士》故事TheMindofEvil。也在情景喜剧《请讲普通话》前三季中出现，说泉漳片。这个节目中，她必须说一种夸张的、刻板的中国口音，虽然她的英文没问题。
