1)金属基复合材料:主要研究轻质高强金属基(Al、Mg、Ti)复合材料的制备科学的关键问题,重点针对金属基复合材料的复合过程的基础科学问题,着重研究复合体系设计和优化,复合新技术,复合过程,加工成形及服役过程中的组织与性能的演变规律,从而为低成本高效制备性能优异的轻质高强多功能金属基复合材料奠定理论基础和应用途径。所研究的轻质高强多功能金属基复合材料在我国的航天及国家重要工程领域逐步得到验证和应用。
2)遗态及其功能复合材料:提出遗态材料的研究方法,开展了遗态材料的探索研究。遗态材料的基本概念就是借用通过以自然生物为模板,利用物理化学方法传承生物体经自然亿万年优化的精美分级精细结构和形态,同时变异其化学组成,从而制备出既保留自然界的分级精细结构,又有人为赋予特性的新材料。通过所传承的生物精细结构与材质的耦合效应,得到响应性能大幅提高的新型材料,并开展关于转换结构与材质耦合效应机理等问题的基础和前沿的探索研究。这一研究已在国际上发表论文高影响力论文70余篇,遗态材料的英文专著1本,专著章节3章,国际会议特邀报告10余次,,先后6次入选国际期刊封面文章,9次入选国际期刊热门文章,6次入选国际期刊研究亮点,先后在国内外等科技媒体作为研究亮点报道、转载和评述600余次加拿大著名“DiscoveryChannel”对遗态材料研究进行采访和报道。
