人物生平
1954年，ArtRupe公司看中了他的几首作品，小理查德由此开始了事业的高潮期。1956年，专辑《Tutti-Frutti》推出后，冲击到了排行榜第17位，销量达300万张。在成功的鼓舞下，小理查德趁热打铁，在5月推出“LongTallSally”，取得了排行榜13位的佳绩。1956年余下的时间里，小理查德刮起了巡回演出的旋风，并出现在电影《KeepaKnocking》中。但在当他的事业如日中天的时候，小理查德却在10月的澳大利亚巡回演出中正式宣布放弃摇滚乐。当他重返美国时，他最终重返录音室，录制了《KeepingAKnocking》和《GoodGolly，MissMolly》。1958年，他进入亚拉巴马州的一家技术学院学习，不久又以注册牧师的身份出现 。

在60年代晚期到七十年代，他以在多个厂牌录制了一系列的微不足道的唱片，但没有一个让人感觉如他原来代表作中的火热激情。
在引退歌坛多年后的1985年，英国作家怀特出版了传记《生活在小理查德时代》，媒体再次将目光投向这位几十年前的超级歌手。一年后，他以单曲“GreatGoshA’Mighty”再返排行榜，最好成绩为42位。同年，他同海滩男孩乐队共同录制了专辑《LifetimeFriend》。不久后，他入驻摇滚名人堂。
2020年5月9日，摇滚先驱小理查德LittleRichard去世，享年八十七岁。去年的奥斯卡最佳电影《绿皮书》曾多次提及他 。
