Doris Davenport was born in Moline, IL, but grew up in Hollywood. 塞缪尔·戈尔德温 gave her the part of 埃迪·坎特's sweetheart in his musical 恭喜发财 (1934) after seeing her work as a Goldwyn Girl. As Doris Jordan, she tested for the part of Scarlett O'Hara in 乱世佳人 (1939) and was one of the finalists.
