6 stars, cuz This gets personal. The movie's title-list should'v been: Human-shape LION be like, Everybody's worst and best self, OR, Have you got a friend like this? Well, I had, a blinddate. A 3-month time to know her was like being hammered down once every second for 3 months. She's Dall. She's a QUEEN in her thrown tredding a path of focus, accomplishment and financial success. A Chinese real-life grown-up version of an American fictional character, Alex Dall, whose outstanding-ness nature bore first-place onto the beautiful country's list of Great Hall of Best Spirits, no less than Hanks' stupid/sole-salvaging Gump, by my view BTW. I know her in real-life.
Thanks for this creation, director. I got to watch a human-animal, so majestic and so magical, all in a screen again, this time even more vividly. As it's done before, I was stripped from protection, meaning the Kevin-Costerner-in-"Rumor has it..."-type image I subconsciously mirrored myself to is shaken drastically. I enjoyed it.
Not an M me, but I know the look of human-shape lion when I see it. I should talk bout it.
1st, the look of one is innocent and out-of-the-now. She's focused, all she want is doing the best in the now, and usually that is a goal in numbers, places in the crowd, could be translated onto a piece of paper. That's why the shape of anybody's looks is non-existant in her brain.
2nd, the form of stuff that one surrounds herself with, is nothing's business, except to fullfill that goal. That equals neglecting other people's influence, the micro-society of sororities, the lure of vanity, anything. Most of the time, you'll find her cramping herself in odd places, only because that environment gives her the benefits she needs to the goal.
There is no end to this list of characteristics.
There is no beginning of her giving a speech, cuz she's silently self-practising real stuff, that is one characteristic.
I'd shut my eyes more often to let the brain see like how she sees. Like shrinking a wide-angle spotlight down to a laser beam.
I would be agonizing, sure, But I believe everybody shall have some real lion in them. Toughness isn't God-sent, it's man-made suprehigh pressured carbon. First look like coal, but it's diamond.
