电影对传统议题的切入角度可谓是相当尖锐，环境、宗教、cult等主题交织在一起，对disenchantment和后现代主义信仰的poignant讨论，甚至是一种苍白、fragile、但是无比坚定的非传统的爱。而且怀孕的女主角名字叫Mary，preceding the birth of a baby boy 是极端者的自杀。男主的somatic symptoms（呕吐、腹泻等）其实可以被解读成一种manifestation of spiritual purging，同时伴随着喝酒、血液，他的意识中聚集了许多符号，尤其是最后三分半。对于环境变化的讨论顾虑有点多，或许毕竟open to interpretation可能点到即可。

结尾的无fade out直接黑屏的剪辑是我没见过的，momentary confusion之后觉得wow cool。
