Humans. You know them. Same as they ever were—greedy, prejudiced, vain, jealous, petty, scheming, and capable of incredible grace. (人类,没啥要解释的)
Fae. Everyone who is not a human in this universe is referred to as a “creature” or, less kindly, “critch.” You’ll hear a number of nonhuman slurs on Carnival Row as it grapples with its central allegory of immigration and the refugee crisis. The fae folk, or faeries, are pretty recognizable for anyone with a passing familiarity with fantasy. Wings, ethereal beauty; you know how it goes. You may also hear them called “pix.”(pix,一切非人种族,包括flyer 精灵, black raven黑乌鸦之类)
Fauns. You will also hear these creatures called “critch,” or the even more vulgar “puck.” The goat-legged, horn-headed folks are, with a few exceptions, of the serving class.(puck,牛头人)
The Pact. It might be a spoiler to tell you more about these folks, but suffice it to say that (1) they are the enemies of the fae, and (2) a homonym of their name is, perhaps, a clue to what kind of creatures this ruthless human force might be tied up with. They read onscreen as 19th-century Cossacks. (协约国,pix的敌人,类似哥萨克的设定)
